our festivities

Yesterday I got out of work early which was nice.  My mom and I ran errands together and then went to Mia's party.  She has wanted to plan a wedding since attending mine so she put together a party where she married Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.  Her imagination is intense, which I love.  Here she is all dressed up and wearing makeup.

A few days ago Mia was showing me one of her school papers where she wrote down a sentence that said something like.....Bats have mothers.  Then she drew all of these bats on the page.  I made a big deal about her bat drawings because they were so adorable.  I asked her to draw me a bat and so she painted several pages of them for me and the added bonus of a reindeer painting too.

I need to think of some creative way to display these beauties.

Our New Year celebration consisted of my mom and brother coming over for dinner and games.  I had fun cooking up a lovely little meal with my mom.  I kind of bossed her around in the kitchen but I think she enjoyed my awesome cooking skills.
Then we played all sorts of games......pictionary, taboo, and cranium.  My team managed to be the losing one until cranium.  Will and I beat my mom and Brandon.  Of course if you ask my mom it wasn't a "true victory" because there was controversy over whether or not her team answered one of the questions correctly.  She even made a big deal about googling the answer to see if they were right.  My silly mom gets crazy competitive at games.  I keep teasing her by saying "true victory"!!!

Here is a gem of a necklace that is apparantly quite old.  Gram decided to pass it to me since I am the owl lover.  If I have the story right it was Gram's aunts necklace.  I'm glad her aunt Ethel had great taste in jewelry.

Will hung the giant tree painting up so I thought I would share a better picture of it.

It is weird to think that 2009 is over.  It went by so fast.  It's like they always say, time flies when you're having fun and this year was certainly full of fun.
As the evening came to an end Will and I watched the countdown to 2010 together then started out our new year out just right.

  4. I LOVE your blog and I feel the same way when you don't post but luckily you are really good about posting. Yes, Mia is a funny one for sure. Out of all her drawings I think the bats are my favorite. As far as the skin....I don't know. I try to always drink tons of water because I know that makes a difference. I don't let the sun abuse my skin. I don't really use fancy stuff. I've gravitated more towards natural type products. I'll give you all the scoop sometime.

  5. Aww thanks!

I'm sure the water thing would help. I'm TERRIBLE about drinking water. I mean really bad. Some days I don't take a single sip of water. So I need to do that, and yes PLEASE give me the scoop.
